Van der Velde

Hello,

My name is Leonie van der Velde and I was born and raised in Groningen, Holland. I'm 23 years old and I've played soccer ever since I can remember. Officialy since I was 6 years old, but my mom told me that as a young child I was always playing with a ball.

At the moment (may 2010) I'm graduating from college. I've studied Journalism on the School of Media at the University of Windesheim in Zwolle.

Strong Points

I am a strong attacker. I have a good pass, an eye for the goal and a strong shot. And i have a lot of speed and drive in me. I'm very active and always looking for ways to get to the goal. Once I've passed the ball to another player on my team, I'm already busy planning the next attack. I also know how to keep insight in the game. I'm always busy with standing on the right position and making myself available to receive the ball. But I'm still discovering new ways to do so and wanna keep learning, because you can never learn enough! I also often see where the spaces are and I always try to make sure the ball gets there. With my speed I can easily pressure the defence to get the ball to the side that we want as a team.

Points of improvement

My defending, I wanna be stronger and I want to lose less duels. Because I have never been a defender it is something that's not rushing through my vains, but ofcourse it's not like I never get the ball from my opponent, but I want to be a lot better at it then I am now! My techniques, obviously I know how to control a ball, but I think your technique is something that can always be trained, and you can always get better at it. After all, I'm not a Ronaldinho yet...
